So you think you can dance…5, 6, 7, 8…

Well for those of you who read “Stay Tuned…“Last week and you did indeed hang on to the edge of your seat, wait no more…

On Sunday 06/06/2010, during my daughter’s spring dance recital with Focus Performing Arts Dance Studio in Lake Mary Florida, I participated in my first Dad’s Dance.

For the last month about 20 fathers and I were practicing for a secret finale performance for the end of year recital.  This for me was breaking way outside of my comfort zone, but I knew I had many reasons why this was worth doing, not the least of which was for my daughter.  I really enjoyed every bit leading up to and including the show performances (not to mention great exercise).  We danced to a compilation of popular Christmas songs all dressed as Santa (see if you can pick me out of the group when you watch the video LOL).  Our entire performance was about 2 1/2 minutes long and we did it twice (matinee and evening shows).  Our kids were part of it as well at the end they came out and joined us on stage.  I had such a good time, I would encourage any dads who have the opportunity to jump right in, and I am psyched for next year.  My daughter did fantastic in her lyrical performance and she and my wife, along with our extended families really enjoyed the whole show.  So sit back and enjoy my debut recital…Dad’s Dance Video!

In Costume before the big Show!

After the show with our gifts from family!
